Penske
Racing Shocks have been designed for High Performance quality and
simplicity. Each part of the Penske racing shock is designed and
manufactured from the finest materials and then hard anodized to
prevent corrosion. Each part is also designed to combine maximum
strength with the lightest possible weight. All Penske racing
shocks are hand built, mono-tube, gas pressurized, rebuildable and
revalvable. Should any part become damaged, the individual part
may be replaced by the owner rather than requiring complete
replacement of the shock and every part is available at a
reasonable price.

PENSKE
SHOCKS - 8983 SERIES
The
8983 Series damper utilizes research and development acquired from
Penske’s decades of racing experience at a world class level and
makes it available for your sportbike. The 8983 Series damper is a
double adjustable model. First, adjustability comes from the fact
that the compression and rebound dampening is adjusted externally
instead of removing the damper from the motorcycle. The
compression adjuster is located on the remote reservoir while the
rebound adjuster is located in the eyelet at the base of the
shaft. The main valving, located inside the damper, may also be
altered in a matter of minutes, by removing the damper from the
motorcycle. The 8981 Series adjuster offers a wide range of
compression adjustments for the serious racer. As the adjuster
knob is rotated, a drum inside the compression adjuster is
rotated, aligning the chosen orifice within the direct flow of oil
into the remote reservoir. The adjustment knob is numbered from
one to six and by clicking to the number one position, the
adjuster is set at the softest position utilizing the largest hole
in the compression adjuster drum. The number six position on the
knob denotes a full stiffness setting where oil flow is greatly
restricted. This method of adjusting compression damping is ideal
for most forms of racing, especially those having higher shaft
speeds and displacements. The redesigned orifices make every
adjustment have a noticeable “feel” and have increased the
range of adjustment. At higher shaft velocities, oil passes
through the orifice in the compression adjuster drum and gets to a
point of “packing-up”. Penske has designed a valve in the
compression adjuster housing allowing the oil to bleed off, making
for more linear force curves. The 8983 Series is the choice of
champions worldwide.
Features:
• 6 levels of adjustability
• Blow off valve makes more linear damping curve
• Advanced technology construction
• Unparalleled performance
• Proven design from a proven company

PENSKE
SHOCKS - 8987 SERIES
Winning
race teams the world over demand state of the art technology,
consistency, and high performance from their shocks. The 8987
Series damper from Penske, is the latest, most advanced generation
of adjustable dampers available today. This damper provides a more
extensive range of tuning and hardware options in order to fulfill
each team’s specifications as well as the personal preferences
of race engineers and riders. The 8987 offers a variety of
upgrades in its overall damping range including superior
tune-ability and service-ability. It also features an advanced
modular design, allowing greater leeway in chassis packaging. The
8987 is offered as a 3-way and 4-way adjustable damper and is
designed to fine-tune both high and low speed shaft movements. The
high-speed adjuster controls larger track inconsistencies that may
disrupt the motorcycle, while the low-speed adjuster controls slow
shaft movements that occur during corner entry and exit. When
tuning the high-speed adjustment, the secondary valve shims are
being preloaded, giving you different compression forces. The low
speed adjustment meters the fluid and bypasses the piston in the
adjuster, providing an adjustable combination of bleed and shim
controlled damping. In effect, the combination of low speed and
high speed adjustments will offer virtually unlimited tuning
options. The 8987 Series damper is the ultimate tuning tool for
the professional race team.
Features:
• 30 levels of low-speed and 18 levels of high speed
adjustability
• Completely rebuildable and revalvable
• Advanced technology and design
• Constructed from the highest grade materials available
• Unrivaled consistency and performance
• Proven race quality shock
