     Vetterolf Maschinenbau GmbH, maker of PVM brand products, was founded in 1919 as the "Peter Vetterolf Mechanical Workshop" and began producing magnesium wheels for the construction of airplanes during the 1940s.  The high quality of its products is acknowledged the world over, making it one of the first companies that motorcycle racing teams and racing suppliers turn to for anything from full prototype development to finished limited series production.  All of the company's construction, production and marketing techniques comply with strict DIN ISO 9001 guidelines, a fact that guarantees the consistently high level of quality that customers naturally demand of its products.  PVM has been working closely with leading Grand Prix racing teams for over 30 years; this cooperation has promoted the constant development of parts manufactured by PVM, thereby making Vetterolf one of the leading and most successful suppliers in the field of racing.

This is the fifth generation of forged wheels made by PVM following the general trend towards FEM calculated wheels.  Weight reduction was the main goal here instead of design and optical considerations. The engineers succeeded in achieving a further weight reduction of up to 20% whilst improving the stability of the wheel at the same time.

Forged by Europe's most prestigious manufacturer of forged parts and in compliance with the quality standards of the aerospace industry.  This is the third generation of forged wheels made by PVM following the general trend towards FEM calculated wheels. Weight reduction was for the first time the main goal here instead of design and optical considerations. The engineers succeeded in achieving a further weight reduction of up to 20% whilst improving the stability of the wheel at the same time. A forged aluminum front wheel sized at 3.5 x 17'' e.g. for a Ducati 998R now weighs only 7.5lb completely ready for fitting. The weight optimization is even more striking for the back wheels: In this case for example the 6 x 17'' wheel of a Yamaha R1 was reduced to slightly more than 11.5lb.

Completely CNC-processed, it is more stable and rigid than any traditional cast wheel. At the same time its clearly optimized weight offers yet another advantage over conventional technology. The street-homologated aluminum version is up to 30% lighter than comparable cast-aluminum wheels.

Always ahead of the times, the PVM engineers have developed a new design for 2007.  Just like all our other forged wheels, the new 20-spoke wheel is completely FEM-calculated and represents further progress with respect to the weight/ stability ratio.  But even the aesthetes amongst our customers will be delighted with the "multiple spoke" design. The management set the goal of combining form and functionality with the perfect design and this has been technically realized to 100%.
